Privacy policy
Short version: your hair photo is analyzed inside your browser and is never uploaded. We set no cookies and do not track you. The only thing we count is an anonymous usage statistic that cannot be linked to you.
Who we are
What Is My Hair Type (hairtypetest.com) is a free hair type test run by 1000 Ventures. Contact: michael@1000ventures.io.
Your data stays on your device
The hair type test runs entirely on your device. When you pick or take a photo, your browser crops it, shrinks it to 280 by 280 pixels and runs our model on it. The photo is never sent to us or anyone else, and nothing is saved once you leave the page.
The same goes for the hair type quiz: your answers are scored in your browser and are not sent anywhere.
To run the model, your browser downloads two things: the model file from our own server, and the open source onnxruntime-web library from jsDelivr, a public code delivery network. Like any website you visit, jsDelivr receives your IP address with that request. It receives nothing about your photo. See the jsDelivr privacy policy.
Anonymous usage statistics
When you use the tool, we count that use in an anonymous, aggregate statistic. Each count contains only the event (for example that a result was shown and which of the 12 hair types it was), a country-level location, your device type and the hour it happened. We store no IP address, set no cookies and attach no identifier of any kind, so no count can be linked to you. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we do not count anything at all.
We also note, in one word, where a visit came from: a search engine, an AI assistant, one of our other sites, a social network or no referrer at all. Your browser sends only the host name of the page that linked to us, and we keep just that one-word channel. The address of the page you came from is never stored.
Cookies
We do not set tracking cookies. The site works without cookies.
Advertising
This site shows no ads at the moment. If we add ads later, we will name the ad partner, its cookies and the consent options here before they go live.
Your rights (GDPR)
We operate from the EU and aim to comply with the GDPR. Because the tool collects no personal data, there is normally nothing personal we hold about you. Write to us at the address above with any request.
