What the service is
What Is My Hair Type is a free website that estimates your hair type, from 1A to 4C, from a photo or a short quiz. It is run by 1000 Ventures. There is no account, no fee and no sign-up.
Results are a guide, not a diagnosis
The hair type system is a practical way to describe curl patterns, not a medical or scientific measure. Our model can be wrong, especially on photos that are blurry, far away or of styled hair, and it is often one subtype off when hair sits between two types. Use the result to choose products and routines. Do not rely on it for medical decisions. If you have hair loss, itching, pain or another scalp problem, see a doctor.
Your photos
Photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded, as described in our privacy policy. Only use photos of your own hair, or of someone who agreed to it.
Content and product advice
Our care tips are general advice that suits most people with a given hair type. Check product labels for ingredients you react to, and stop using anything that irritates your skin or scalp. We do not sell products and are not paid to recommend any.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We may change, pause or stop the service at any time. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using it.
